This is the first CIG Charity and Community Report. It records what the company has given, sponsored and supported since January 2025, using figures taken from our accounts rather than estimates. It will be updated each year.

Charity and community work at CIG is led by the people in the business. The causes below are the ones our team plays for, coaches, raises money for and cares about.

Figures in pounds. Charitable donations are the Charitable Donations account in Xero; the Restore Trust donation was made through Overbury’s Music Night and is recorded separately. The golf day total is the full amount raised, donated to the Alfie Nick Foundation; CIG met the cost of running the day.

2. The Alfie Nick Foundation

The Alfie Nick Foundation is a Bristol charity set up in memory of Alfie Nick. It supports disadvantaged children across England and Wales, including those who have been in care or who live with disability or mental health challenges. CIG has supported the Foundation since the start of 2025 through direct donations, our annual golf day and practical help.

Donations to the Foundation in the period: 3,600 pounds in January 2025, 304 pounds in May 2025 and 1,800 pounds in December 2025, together 5,705 pounds given in support of the Foundation’s launch events, plus 5,815.33 pounds from the 2026 golf day.

3. The CIG charity golf day

Our golf day brings clients, suppliers and the CIG team together once a year for the Foundation. The 2026 day was held on 15 May at The Kendleshire, near our Iron Acton office, with hole and team sponsorship, a raffle and an auction. It raised 5,815.33 pounds, and CIG paid for the day itself so that every pound raised went to the charity. The golf day runs every year and its total is published here.

4. Other donations

  • The Restore Trust, Bristol, which helps socially excluded people gain skills, qualifications and work: 4,800 pounds through Overbury’s annual Music Night, 2025
  • Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children’s Hospital charity: 1,200 pounds, January 2025
  • Prostate Cancer UK: 200 pounds, February 2026
  • Smaller donations and raffle prizes through the year, recorded in our accounts and included in the totals above

5. Grassroots sport

Most of the clubs we sponsor are the ones our own people play for or coach. Sponsorship pays for kit, ground advertising and player sponsorships, several of them on three-year agreements, and it keeps subs down for families.

  • Bridgwater Cricket Club: three-year ground advertising partnership and annual sponsorship of two players.
  • Wembdon Cricket and Football Club: three-year advertising partnership, plus a gazebo supplied and fitted by CIG for parents and players.
  • Shaftesbury Road Cricket Club: ground advertising.
  • Red Falcons JFC under-11s: kit sponsor. HML Spring Cup winners 2026.
  • Kettering FC under-16 Reds: kit sponsor, two tournament wins in 2026.
  • Emersons Green under-12s: team sponsorship.
  • Ashton Girls under-11 Pumas: kit sponsor.
  • Mangotsfield under-12s football teams: kit sponsor.
  • Red Falcons senior women’s team: kit sponsor.
  • Bristol Futsal: team sponsorship.
  • Imperial RFC, Bristol: player sponsorship each season.

6. Donated works in the community

Beyond donations, we give our trades where they are useful. We supplied and fitted a gazebo for Wembdon Cricket and Football Club, now used by parents and players for shelter during matches. At Bishops Hull Primary School, where CIG was already working, the team decorated the refurbished kitchen free of charge because the school’s budget did not extend to it. Colleagues have paid time to volunteer for local causes, and from 2026 we are recording those hours, donated labour and materials so they can be reported next year.

7. Where our money goes

Community value also comes from where we spend. From January 2025 to September 2026, 97% of the labour on our sites lived within 30 miles of the project, 89% of our spend with located subcontractors and suppliers stayed in the South West and South Wales, and 51% went to businesses within 30 miles of Iron Acton. The method is set out in our Social Value Statement.

8. The year ahead

  • Hold the 2027 charity golf day for the Alfie Nick Foundation and publish the total raised
  • Continue the three-year partnerships with Bridgwater and Wembdon and the football, futsal and rugby sponsorships, adding clubs where our people ask us to
  • Record volunteering hours and donated labour and materials so they appear in the next report, kept separate from sponsorship spend
  • Review this report each September with the Social Value Statement
